Anyhow, the reason you might consider getting started on your University of California application is because there was a major overhaul this year to the UC application. There are now four 350 word essays. That’s quite a lot of essays — a whole lot more than in previous years. Unlike for so many other highly selective colleges, the University of California schools don’t use the Common Application. So there’s no Personal Statement — just these four essays.
